Selly Oak Councillors are supporting the Doorstep Challenge to tidy up front gardens in the Bournbrook area.
Selly Oak Councillors Alistair Dow and Robert Wright attended the launch of the 'I Love Selly Oak' Doorstep Challenge in the Bournbrook area. This competition is intended to encourage everyone living in the Bournbrook area to make their front gardens look as good as possible.
Everyone who participates will have two weeks to clean up their front gardens during October. Community Wardens employed by the Birmingham University Guild of Students will take "before" and "after" photographs. Judging will take place in the first week of November and the first prize is a £100 Tesco voucher, with runner-up prizes of £50 Tesco vouchers or a free meal at Frankie & Benny's.
Councillor Alistair Dow said: "This is an exciting way to help tidy up Bournbrook for the benefit of all residents. I am particularly delighted that so many organisations and businesses have come together to support it."
The Doorstep Challenge is being supported by a number of local organisations, including Birmingham City Council, Birmingham University, the Guild of Students, local businesses, West Midlands Police and the West Midlands Fire Service.
