"More public consultation was needed before any changes were made to bus services," says Councillor Dave Radcliffe.
Changes to some bus services in south Birmingham take effect today. Details of the changes, and timetables for the new services, can be found on the Network West Midlands website at www.networkwestmidlands.com
Councillor Dave Radcliffe said: "Providing better bus links to the new Queen Elizabeth hospital is a good idea, but more public consultation was needed before any changes were made. However, I do welcome the new bus shelters that are being installed. I know that graffiti and vandalism to bus shelters is a concern for residents."
No major changes have been made to the 61/62/63 Bristol Road services or the 45/47 Pershore Road services (although some changes have been made to the end of the routes). In addition, no change has been made to the 50 Alcester Road service.
However, bigger changes have been made to other services such as the 69 (which now runs from Brandwood Park Road via Kings Heath to Wythall). The 76 service from Solihull to Kings Heath has now been extended to Queen Elizabeth Hospital to cover the former route of the 69 service from Kings Heath to Selly Oak. But the only direct service from Selly Oak to Weoley Castle is now the 21.
