Cllr Robert Wright and local Lib Dems have welcomed this year's Council Tax freeze.
Households across Birmingham are having their Council Tax bills frozen this year.
Under Labour, our Council Tax increased well above inflation. Since 2004, Lib Dem councillors have worked hard to keep Council Tax rises below inflation and in 2011 there is no rise at all.
Under the Lib Dem plans, each Birmingham household could be an average of £35 better off.
"Freezing Council Tax this year means that there is one less rising bill for families to worry about," said Selly Oak Councillor Robert Wright.
Local people will also be given a bigger say on Council Tax rises in future years with plans for referendums on large increases.
"We understand that these aren't easy times for the people of Birmingham," added Councillor Paul Tilsley, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Birmingham City Council. "We want to give residents as much freedom as possible to choose how their money is spent. Low council tax is a priority for the national government and it is a priority we share here in Birmingham. We have levied the lowest average increase in Council Tax of any metropolitan authority over the last five years and I am proud of this."
