Alistair Dow: "Local residents should have their say on development plans."
Selly Oak Councillor Alistair Dow has urged local residents to have their say on the new plans for Selly Oak that Sainsburys and Land Securities have submitted to Birmingham City Council.
"The development of the Battery site will have a major impact on Selly Oak and it is important that local residents have their say before it is too late," said Alistair.
The plans for old Battery site between the new Aston Webb Boulevard and Bristol Road include a new supermarket (to replace the existing Sainsburys store off Chapel Lane), other retail units, restaurants and bars and two hotels. Sainsburys are also proposing to fund community projects such as improvements to Selly Oak Library and Bournbrook Recreation Ground, as well as a new canal link.
The plans will be available on www.sellyoak-regeneration.co.uk from Monday 19 March 2012.
A public exhibition showing the revised plans will be held at the Christian Life Centre, 900 Bristol Road on:
